Azania Holdings International Inc. (“Azania Holdings”) is proud to sponsor and participate in World Trade Week 2005 in New York City, May 16th – 20th.

2005 marks the 70th Anniversary of World Trade Week. In 1935, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt officially proclaimed this national observance the third week in May each year.

Azania Holdings in conjunction with the US Department of Commerce / US Commercial Service, the State of New York and the Global Trade & Technology Center will produce investment forums in each of New York City’s five boroughs highlighting business and investment opportunities for US companies in Emerging Markets such as Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Central and South America.

Industry sectors opportunities presented at the investment forums encompass Manufacturing, Transportation & Logistics, Information Technology, VoIP, Telecommunications, Construction, Property Development, Import/Export and Mining. The investment forums will be comprehensive ranging from a basic geography lesson to infrastructure for supporting businesses to specific investment and business opportunities.

A special viewing of The World Bank produced film "Africa Open for Business" donated by the Africa America Institute will be screened at each forum. In addition, there will be a brief presentation outlining the benefits of South Africa’s Black Economic Empowerment policy for US companies.

Speakers include Congressional elected officials, US government officials, World Trade experts and key industry stakeholders who will address upcoming trade legislation such as the US - Dominican Republic / Central America Free Trade Agreement (DR-CAFTA), the US – Bahrain Free Trade Agreement and the US – Southern African Customs Union Free Trade Agreement (SACUTA). The Southern African Customs Union agreement between South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia and Swaziland is the oldest Free Trade Agreement in the world.
