Africa: Open for Business, a one-hour documentary on entrepreneurship in Africa is produced by Carol Pineau and funded by The World Bank. The world does not see Africa as a business destination, but savvy investors know Africa offers the best return on direct investment in the world – yes, in the world.

Africa: Open for Business offers a glimpse of African entrepreneurship on the continent. The film offers a “tour of the continent,” covering ten different countries, showing businesses large and small, featuring a mix of industries.

Taken together, they are inspiring stories of human force of will. This is the Africa you don't see on the nightly news -- an Africa that is viable, has capacity, and can be competitive in the global economy.

About The Jamaica Business Resource Center
The Jamaica Business Resource Center was designated in 1994 through Presidential authorization to become the national model and pilot for former President Clinton’s “One Stop Capital Shop” small business program. This program was developed at the White House Office of Management and Budget. Since its inception in 1995, the Jamaica Business Resource Center has provided technical and financial assistance to over 6,000 new and established businesses; secured over $200 million in financing and procurement opportunities for small, minority and women-owned businesses; and provided high quality, in depth training in the fundamentals of business management to over 4,000 entrepreneurs.

Following the establishment of the Jamaica Business Resource Center, 16 additional ‘One Stop Capital Shops’ were launched in cities across the nation. JBRC has also been a regional model for numerous economic development initiatives throughout the New York metropolitan area.

Official designations have been received by the U.S. Department of Commerce to operate the Queens/Nassau/Suffolk Minority Business Development Center and by the Bush Administration to operate one of the distinctive Business LINC Centers in the nation.

Because of its regional and national impact in the economic development arena, JBRC has been invited to address global conferences in Geneva, Switzerland (the United Nations International Conference Center); South Africa; Amman, Jordan; and Montreal, Canada on the topic of sustainable economic development models. JBRC will address a global conference in Thailand in 2005.
